Instant Diagnostic Systems (IDS) is an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) specializing in home-based diagnostic testing. Based in Decatur, Alabama, IDS has conducted almost 2 million home diagnostic tests. IDS is a state licensed, Medicare-participating provider, that meets and exceeds all Federal IDTF performance standards as posted by CMS and the Federal Register. IDS performs Overnight Home Pulse-Oximetry Testing for oxygen qualification (Procedure Code 94762) and Home Sleep Testing for CPAP or dental application qualification (Procedure Code G0400 and G0399).
Home Diagnostic Services
In 2005 IDS was a pioneer in the HME-delivered, in-home oximetry testing market, and has since performed almost 2 million pulse-oximetry studies. and is not only the largest, but also the most trusted IDTF provider of Overnight Home Pulse-Oximetry Testing in the U.S. known as IDS Oximetry.
Pulse-Oximetry Testing is used to determine the need for or to prove the continued benefit of home oxygen therapy. It is typically taken to help determine if a patient needs home oxygen for diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), and other lung or airway disorders. These tests are ordered by the patient's treating physician.
The equipment is delivered to and picked up from the patient's home by a Home Medical Equipment Supplier (HME or DME) company that provides and services home oxygen equipment and supplies. IDS provides written test instructions for the patient, processes the test data, creates test reports, and promptly distributes the test results to the ordering physician.
Based on the success of this program, IDS launched IDS Sleep in 2008. A direct-to-patient mail delivery Home Sleep Testing (HST) program for diagnosing Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) in patients with a moderate-to-severe risk based on a clinical assessment. In other words, IDS Sleep is a way for patients to be evaluated for sleep apnea at home in the comfort of their own bed. When compared with traditional, facility-based sleep studies, IDS Sleep is: more convenient and comfortable for the patient; less expensive for the patient and the insurer; fast, reliable and highly accurate for the physician; and uniquely designed with today's CPAP supplier's needs in mind to help increase referrals, revenue, and profitability.
