About IDS
Instant Diagnostic Systems, more commonly known as IDS, is an Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility (IDTF) that specializes in home-based diagnostic testing. Based in Decatur, Alabama, IDS is a subsidiary of The Harvard Drug Group of Livonia, Michigan, one of the nation's top pharmaceutical distributors. IDS is state licensed, a Medicare participating provider and meets or exceeds all Federal IDTF performance standards as posted by CMS and the Federal Registry. IDS currently performs Overnight Pulse-Oximetry Testing for oxygen qualification (Procedure Code 94762) and Home Sleep Testing (Procedure Code G0400 and G0399).
Home Diagnostic Services
IDS helped pioneer and now leads the nation in providing in-home, self-administered Overnight Oximetry, also know as Pulse-Oximetry Testing, which is used to determine the need for or to prove the continued benefit of home oxygen therapy. These tests are ordered by the patient's treating physician, usually by electronic fax. The equipment is then delivered to and picked up from the patient's home by a Home Medical Equipment Supplier (abbreviated HME or DME) company that provides and services home oxygen equipment and supplies. IDS provides written test instructions for the patient, processes the test data, creates test reports and promptly distributes reports to the ordering physician.
Based on the success of this program, in 2008 we launched IDS Sleep, a direct-to-patient mail delivery program for diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in patients with a moderate to severe risk based on a clinical assessment. When compared with traditional, facility based sleep studies, IDS Sleep is more convenient and comfortable for the patient, less expensive for the insurer and provides the physician with reliable and highly accurate test results in a much shorter timeframe.
Business intelligence tools
IDS also provides our HME customers with an innovative business intelligence tool called the IDS Dashboard that can help companies analyze and grow referrals by managing office efficiencies. IDS is also developing tools to help manage CPAP compliance programs for HME customers who utilize IDS Sleep.

IDS conducts more studies in the home than any IDTF in the nation. Our large, experienced staff provides you with the highest quality service in HME training, technical support, data processing, validation, reimbursement and patient and physician support. Business operations are from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with patient technical support available 24 hours a day.
We serve over 83,000 physicians, 2,500 HMEs and more than 20,000 patients per month. Our technical infrastructure is highly advanced, cost efficient and HIPAA compliant, having been built to accommodate nearly unlimited volume and growth.
