How To Get Tested

Screen yourself — To do a self-screening for sleep apnea, please use the tools below: Berlin Questionnaire; or Epworth Sleepiness Scale. If you feel you have symptoms of sleep apnea, you will need to schedule an appointment and discuss your symptoms with your primary care physician. You may want to print out your screening results and a physician's order form from our website (available below) so that you can take them with you to your doctor's appointment.

See your Physician —  When discussing your symptoms with your primary care physician, you can also discuss the option of Home Sleep Testing (HST) and whether or not it is appropriate for your situation. If your physician decides that a home sleep test is in order, you may give him the order form, have him choose a diagnosis, then have him sign and date it. Your physician will need to fax the form to IDS.

Schedule the Test —  For efficient test scheduling, please read and follow the Next Steps Patient Guide (available below) as IDS Patient Support will be calling to schedule your HST. Please be sure to have the following available for insurance verification and scheduling: your address; date of birth; current and accurate height and weight; and current insurance card(s) including Medicare and/or any secondary coverage you might have.

Take your HST —  The device will be shipped to you via the U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail. Simply follow the enclosed instructions (which are also here, on our website) to take the test successfully. Then return the device to IDS in the enclosed, prepaid shipping envelope. IDS will send the test results to your physician as soon as it is available, typically within one business day of receipt!
