More information on the ApneaLink Recording and Reporting Capability from Resmed:

This single channel, clinically-validated1, portable sleep-screening device uses a specially designed nasal cannula and
pressure transducer to measure flow. AHI, snoring and flow limitation measurements are automatically derived. A single-page report with a color-keyed "Risk Indicator" along with patient symptomology makes it easy to make an objective, simple determination whether the patient should be referred for further evaluation of suspected SDB.

You'll be able to detect those who have UARS (upper airway resistance syndrome), even when oxygen desaturations are not present, but significant sleep fragmention is. Oximeters would miss those patients when used as a sleep screening tool.
